Only treated sewage effluent might be discharged in cases when TSE production is higher than TSE demand.
The ESO from the Stage 1 Plant to the sea originates near the Northeastern corner of the plant area in a straight line towards the sea where it will be extended for about 2 km into the sea.
The ESO will lead first through an open area, then cross the E40 road, then again lead through an open area parallel to a local road and, just before the shore line, cross a fenced plot which is owned by the State of Kuwait
The total length of the ESO is approximately 3.5 km with an additional 2 km pipeline leading into the sea.

Wastewater Transmission System \ Design Build Operate
Egailah Waste Water Pumping Station (WWPS) was commissioned in the year 2011 and delivers wastewater with a current hydraulic capacity of up to 2.8 m3/s to the existing Riqqa WWTP.
The hydraulic capacity of Egailah WWPS shall be increased from 2.8 m3/s to 8.3 m3/s.
All upgrade measures shall be implemented without any interruption of the operation of the Egailah WWPS.
New substation (132/11 kv) to deliver sufficient power for the upgraded Egailah WWPS.
